Currently the extension of the passport is not possible.
Applicants are now obliged to go to Burundi in order to renew or request a passport.
Each application is accompanied by either a copy of a passport or a Burundian identity card plus a residence permit for Germany or the other 13 countries represented in Berlin.
Should you need the embassy to issue you travel documents, you must provide the following
Attention!!! the travel document is one-way document that goes only to Burundi
* Please note: The embassy only accepts notarized powers of attorney for requests for a laissez passer.
Copy of the Burundian passport or National ID
Parents’ full names, job titles, phone numbers and email addresses
A confirmed or unconfirmed round trip ticket or letter from a travel agency
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number, email and occupation)
A non-refundable money order/cashier’s check of 65.00€ (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
Two (2) passport-size photos
A large prepaid, self-addressed return envelope
If you need the embassy to legalize your documents, you must provide the following

A prepaid, self-addressed return envelope
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number and email)
The seal from a local notary on the document to be notarized
A copy of a document stating the applicant’s status in the country of resident
A non-refundable money order/cashier’s check of 30.00€ (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
If you need the embassy to provide you with a life certificate, you must provide the following
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number and email)
Copy of a Burundi issued passport, if the applicant is of Burundi nationality
A non-refundable money order/cashier’s check of 30.00€ (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
A large prepaid, self-addressed return envelope
If you need the embassy to authenticate your drivers license, you must provide the following
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number and email)
The original drivers license
A copy of a document stating the applicant’s status in the country of resident
A non-refundable money order/cashier’s check of 30.00€ (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
If you need the embassy to issue you a document attesting of your marital status, you must provide the following
Proof of celibacy (e.g. latest tax returns filled marital status as single)
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number and email)
A copy of a document stating the applicant’s status in the country of resident
A non-refundable money order/cashier’s check of 30.00€ (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
If you need the embassy to provide you with a notoriety act in lieu of a certificate, you must provide the following
** Please note that this document can be issued only to those born before 1980, the birth certificate (for those born after 1980) is only issued in Burundi. **
